Job Posting: Postdoc at University of Prince Edward Island

From the job page: “The Faculty of Arts is seeking a highly qualified applicant for a post-doctoral fellowship position to participate on a funded research project. The fellow will support the Canada Research Chair in Geospatial Humanities and the GeoREACH Lab, which is housed in the Applied, Communications, Leadership & Culture program (ACLC). The GeoREACH lab supports Geospatial Research in Atlantic Canadian History and other projects of the ACLC program. The research is an interdisciplinary approach to the environmental history of food, agriculture, and energy systems in rural Canada and the Atlantic world. It examines how rural Canadians exchanged one energy system for another by mapping the transition from extensive organic agriculture to intensive food and energy systems. The assignment will consist of conducting and coordinating the GeoREACH Lab’s core research project on the creation of rural energy profiles in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries using manuscript censuses, farm diaries, and other archival research. Other high level project management assignments will include assisting with student research assistants, research data and record management, and coordinating workshops and grant applications related to the project. A portion of the time (up to 40%) may be spent on the candidate’s own scholarly research agenda. The candidate will thus have opportunities to collaborate with researchers in academia and government, increasing their network, and will be encouraged to present their research at national and international meetings. This post-doctoral fellowship is subject to final budgetary approval.”
